Cosquillas was developed as a focused exploration of sub-bass and physical vibration, created in my Brooklyn studio and shaped by years of live performance using finger-triggering, looping, and real-time sound sculpting. The composition moves between drum & bass, deep techno, minimal house, glitch, and Latin IDM, building tension through micro-rhythms, layered oscillators, and controlled distortion. The process was driven by translating the experience of Bushwick’s high-definition sound systems into a cinematic, detailed low-frequency language where bass is not only musical, but architectural and emotional.
The audiovisual narrative centers on Mr. Eduardo Cosquillas de la Roca, a sound engineer working at Volcán Cotopaxi, who conducts alchemic experiments with sub-bass frequencies, magnetic fields, and resonant stones. This fictional research mirrors the sound design approach: seismic low tones act like tectonic plates, slowly shifting, colliding, and releasing energy.
