Title: Rocotín, Sound Landscapes
Art Direction: Mariarosa Cornejo
Animation: Patricio Jijón
In the Reggio Emilia approach, children are encouraged to explore and interact with their environment, including the soundscape around them. At the Rocotín School, students aged 3-5 have created a sound landscape that reflects their unique perspectives and experiences.

Using various instruments, found objects, and their own voices, the students have collaborated to create a rich and diverse soundscape that captures the rhythms and textures of their daily lives. The sound landscape invites listeners to engage with the world through the students' ears, fostering a sense of connection and empathy.

By valuing children's creative expression and providing opportunities for collaboration and exploration, the Reggio Emilia approach allows young learners to develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their place in the world.
In addition to encouraging creativity and collaboration, the Reggio Emilia approach also recognizes the importance of sensory experiences in the learning process.
Sound frequencies, in particular, can have a powerful impact on children's emotional and cognitive development. By exploring and manipulating sound frequencies through music and other forms of sound-making, students can develop their auditory processing skills, improve their ability to focus and concentrate, and build a greater sense of self-awareness and emotional regulation.
Through the Reggio Emilia approach, children are encouraged to use sound as a tool for creative expression and exploration, which can lead to a deeper understanding and appreciation of the world around them.
By engaging with sound frequencies in this way, students are able to develop their own unique voice and style, and can begin to see themselves as active participants in the creation and interpretation of the soundscape around them.
